About the role
Directs day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops moderately complex projects and procedures independently. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions. Collaborates to write grant applications and manuscripts.
Maintenance of Lab Operations
- Central and key person for the Sahni Lab upkeep, maintenance, and day-to-day operations.
- Maintains the lab setup, including assistance with lab equipment installation and equipment upkeep.
- Manages lab supplies and orders reagents.
- Ensures lab compliance (IBC, lab safety protocols, animal protocols).
- Serves as the lead point of contact for maintenance issues alongside the PI.
Responsibilities
- Carries out essential research support functions focused on mouse genetics, molecular biology, tissue analysis, mouse behavior, and cell culture.
- Works with transgenic mouse lines and performs mouse surgical procedures.
- Conducts a wide range of basic molecular biology experiments (e.g., PCR, cloning).
- Works with viral vectors for gene delivery.
- Prepares tissue for analysis and performs microscopy.
- Performs standard laboratory experimental tests and procedures, such as preparing complex chemical solutions and media.
- Maintains experimental matter, requiring knowledge of laboratory techniques.
- Records results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience requirement.
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with possible evenings or weekends.
Work Arrangement: On-Campus (teams that work on campus, in an office, or in a lab).
