Laboratory Furniture Designer

About the role

Join our Laboratory Design Project Team and help shape innovative, high-performance laboratory environments that support scientific discovery and operational excellence. As a Laboratory Furniture Designer, you’ll collaborate closely with sales leaders, estimators, customers, and end users to develop laboratory solutions that balance functionality, workflow efficiency, flexibility, and budget requirements. You'll work on projects ranging from laboratory renovations to large-scale new construction initiatives supporting research, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and scientific innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings, including plans, elevations, and sections for fabrication and installation
  • Develop accurate bills of materials and manage change orders to ensure seamless project execution
  • Optimize layouts through space planning, furniture selection, and value engineering principles
  • Provide technical design support throughout the project lifecycle, including furniture specification and design reviews
  • Coordinate and revise drawings based on feedback, specifications, and evolving project requirements
  • Research and specify custom furniture solutions and vendor products
  • Ensure all designs meet quality standards, timelines, and customer expectations

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field (preferred); Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience: 2+ years of drafting or design experience required
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit required
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy
  • Experience interpreting construction documents and specifications

Qualifications

  • 4+ years preferred, ideally within laboratory, healthcare, architectural, industrial, interior systems, or construction-related environments
  • Knowledge of SEFA standards and laboratory furniture systems preferred
  • Experience with 2020, SAP, C4C, or Bluebeam a plus

Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and architectural drawings
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Solid mathematical and spatial reasoning skills
