About the role
The Laboratory Cleaning Mechanic supports the Space Division under the LASSO II contract. The position requires precision chemical cleaning, refurbishment, functional testing, decontamination, and passivation of aerospace fluid systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision chemical cleaning, refurbishment, functional testing, decontamination and passivation of fluid systems and functional components
- Safely perform all work in compliance with laboratory best practices and local policies and procedures
- Perform tasks as directed
Requirements
- High School diploma
- One or more years of experience in precision cleaning of fluid systems or components
- Extensive knowledge in mechanical and electro-mechanical fluid component assembly and disassembly; pneumatic, hydrostatic, hydraulic, cryogenic and electrical testing of components
- Previous experience working from drawings and procedures and the use of cleanroom tools/equipment/measuring and testing instruments
Qualifications
- Must be a US citizen
- Must pass the following KSC-provided physicals: Fuel Handlers, Visual: Micro-particle Counter, Confined Space, Respirator, Crane Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to work in a clean room environment, enclosed areas and heights up to 500 feet
- Able to follow written and oral instructions
- Able to withstand stress of repetitive tasks and pressure of critical deadlines
- Must be able to read, comprehend and follow prescribed procedures
- Computer literate
Skills
- Experience in precision cleaning of fluid systems or components
- Knowledge in mechanical and electro-mechanical fluid component assembly and disassembly
- Experience working from drawings and procedures
- Experience using cleanroom tools/equipment/measuring and testing instruments
