Job Summary

Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) is seeking a Laboratory Assistant - Phlebotomist to join our team at CHA Cambridge Hospital. This position performs routine laboratory work under supervision, contributing to the efficient operation of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Performing phlebotomy on adults and children
  • Performing quality control and assigned technical work under direct supervision
  • Registration of patients
  • Specimen processing, labeling, and preparation of specimens as required
  • Creating site batches
  • Performing assigned technical work under the direct supervision of a manager
  • Centrifugation of specimens
  • Preparation and staining of slides
  • Performing point-of-care waived testing
  • Labeling of tubes/slides for testing
  • Storage and retrieval of specimens
  • Processing/planting specimens for Microbiology
  • Filing and photocopying of documents
  • Performing computer functions
  • Answering telephone calls for the department
  • Transporting supplies from the lab storeroom to keep work area adequately stocked
  • On-call responsibilities
  • Preparing specimens for send-out

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous science course education
  • Fluency in the English language
  • Basic computer skills
  • Meditech experience preferred
  • Phlebotomy training and experience

  • Pay Range: $22.42 - $37.32 per hour
  • Location: CHA Cambridge Hospital
  • Union Name: CH Laborers 380
  • Work Schedule: Evening
  • Length Of Shift(s) In Hours: M-F with weekends rotation 8 hrs shift
  • Shift Details: 3:00- 11:30 M-F with weekends rotation & on-call
  • Holiday Requirements: Yes
  • On Call Requirements: Yes
