Schedule

7:00 AM - 3:30 PM every third weekend.

Pay

$19.80 - $29.70 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Performs data entry of patient information and laboratory test orders on outpatient laboratory specimens to ensure quality results are reported timely.
  • Operates laboratory and hospital information systems for entry and retrieval of patient demographic data and order entry.
  • Works in partnership with Patient Registration department to ensure data accuracy.
  • Processes outpatient lab specimens, accurately orders tests, and labels specimens for testing.
  • Retrieves patient data and results for clients and physicians; operates remote printers and fax to deliver information as requested.
  • Retrieves archived patient data from optical disk while adhering to HIPAA standards for patient confidentiality.
  • Provides client service with a customer-oriented focus, including calling stat results to clients and physicians and documenting calls.
  • Answers and transfers calls for Clinical Laboratory and Reference Laboratory; utilizes telephone call queue system and logs client call information for add-on tests, recollects, and follow-up issues.
  • Uses computer systems for interdepartmental email, specimen tracking, web-based orders, result retrieval, and scanning/indexing lab requisitions.
  • Informs couriers of specimen pickups and assists with local pickups when regular couriers are unavailable.
  • Follows universal safety precaution standards and patient safety policies.
  • Provides support for all lab departments, retrieves information, and assists as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Visual acuity to see monitor screens, computers, and hard copy materials.
  • Ability to hear and verbally communicate in person and over the phone or radio.
  • Capability to sit for prolonged periods (up to 2 hours).
  • Ability to comprehend and learn operation of various office equipment.
  • Functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 50-60#.
  • Ability to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel, and apply proper body mechanics during transfers and transport of supplies/equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
