Laboratory Assistant II - Tissue Morphology

About the role

The Lab Assistant II position at IU Health's Path Lab - Tissue Morphology is a full-time, evening shift role. This position provides general laboratory services including specimen collection, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens, waived testing, and identified moderate complexity testing, as well as related clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Specimen collection and pre-analytic processing
• Preparation of blood components
• Delivering specimens
• Patient and specimen registration
• Performing waived and identified moderate complexity testing
• Related clerical tasks

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Successfully completed an initial and six-month competency for identified testing
• Successfully completed an annual competency assessment for identified testing
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical, or related science preferred
• Experience in waived or moderate complexity testing preferred
• Working knowledge of computers
• Telephone skills
• Able to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time

Qualifications
