About the role
The Regional Float Laboratory Assistant is a full-time position that provides laboratory support and phlebotomy coverage across multiple IU Health laboratory locations, including Lafayette, West Lafayette, Frankfort, Tipton, and Monticello.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient specimen collection, specimen processing, registration support, and customer service
- Maintains compliance with all laboratory policies and quality standards
- Serves as a flexible staffing resource to support patient care and operational needs
- Works in a variety of healthcare settings, traveling between regional sites as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred
- Valid Indiana operator's license and good driving history for the last three years (may be required)
- Understanding of traffic laws in the State of Indiana (may be required)
- Working knowledge of computers
- Telephone skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
- Able to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time
