Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the lab including cleanup and organization.
- Support grant applications by generating preliminary data, developing new reagents, and developing protocols.
- Perform pilot studies primarily using cell and molecular biology and biochemistry approaches.
- Perform communal lab-duties including maintaining cleanliness and organization of laboratory areas, aliquoting reagents, and creating new reagents for lab stocks.
- Conduct co-immunoprecipitations and western blots to generate preliminary results.
- Maintain cell culture, transfect cells and produce stable cell lines for general lab use.
- Construct and isolate DNA plasmids to support lab projects.
- Develop and optimize immunofluorescence protocols to support lab projects.
- Use spreadsheet and graphing software for data analysis.
- Maintain lab databases, DNA construct glycerol stocks log, sequencing log and primer logs.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor, such as administrative tasks in the support of research.
Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience required.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to focus meticulous attention to details.
- Ability to produce reproducible results.
- Ability to work with others in a team-oriented working environment and maintain high ethical standards.
- Experience with standard cell culture and sterile technique, recombinant DNA technology and western blotting.
