Duties And Responsibilities
- Proficiency in collecting correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
- Follows hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to laboratory.
- Knowledge of ordering, stocking and rotating laboratory supplies.
- Ensures that patients receive appropriate competent and quality clinical care and that customer service meets patient's expectations.
- Adheres by staff to all policies and procedures to include the employee handbook.
- Provides age appropriate care.
- Reports, monitors, and manages patient and staff incidents.
- Maintains patient and physician satisfaction results.
- Complies with standard precautions by using personal protective equipment as required.
- Develops, utilizes, and maintains professional relationships within our organization and its affiliates.
- Maintains effective working relationships between nursing, clerical, medical and allied health staff.
- Maintains strict quality control for procedures.
- Organizes requisitions received for collection.
- Maintains records of tests performed.
- Scans orders and lab results into electronic medical system, prints and faxes lab reports to ordering doctor.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Shows excellent customer service on phone and in person to anyone that enters the laboratory.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or higher.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
- Must be able to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively in English.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely.
- General Math skills.
- Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments.
- Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to work well with others.
- Be a team player and flexible.
