Laboratory Assistant

About the Role

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for routine blood product preparation, examination, issuing, and returning of blood products.

Responsibilities

• Prepare blood products for clinical use.
• Examine blood products for quality and compliance.
• Issue and return blood products as required.

Requirements

• Phlebotomy certification with a national agency recognized by ACHA, current and active, or six (6) months experience working in a blood bank laboratory.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with staff and other healthcare providers.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of relevant computer skills for patient ID systems and specimen processing functions.
• Knowledge and skills necessary to function in the Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Blood Bank Laboratory.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Schedule

• 4-day workweek, 10-hour shifts.
• Every third weekend.
• Rotating holidays.
