About the role
The Asst-Lab 2 is responsible for the accurate and timely receiving, processing, and labeling of laboratory specimens, and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results. This position supports acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and other Laboratory Services staff.
Responsibilities
- Accurately receive, process, and label laboratory specimens.
- Support outpatient laboratory encounters by obtaining complex demographic, insurance, and medical information.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and competency on required registration functions.
- Utilize multiple computer applications to complete patient encounters.
Requirements
- 2 years healthcare or related field experience, OR a combination of applicable experience and education.
- Clerical or client services experience.
- Experience with State and Federal and other regulatory Compliance Regulations including Medicare Secondary Payor (MSP), EMTALA, ABN, HIPPA.
Qualifications
- 2 years college coursework/Training in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Certification from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program.
- Certification from a phlebotomy program with 1 year of phlebotomy related experience, or 3 years related experience.
- Upon hire: Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization.
- Industry-related experience in a high volume, acute care setting.
- 2 years phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, clinical laboratory experience, or certification.
