Laboratory Assistant 3
About the role
The Laboratory Assistant 3 position at Park Nicollet provides a variety of laboratory services including specimen collection, client service, reception desk duties, ordering/scheduling/billing functions, laboratory testing, phlebotomy, dispatching, specimen processing, centrifuging, specimen delivery to appropriate laboratories/departments, and ensuring efficient workflow management. This role also serves as a resource for hospital and clinic staff regarding specimen handling and processing.
Responsibilities
- Provide specimen collection, client service, and reception desk duties
- Order, schedule, and bill for laboratory services
- Perform laboratory tests and phlebotomy procedures
- Dispatch specimens to appropriate laboratories/departments
- Process and deliver specimens efficiently
- Affirm proper workflow management and respond to customer requests
- Assist with specimen handling and processing inquiries from hospital and clinic staff
Requirements
- Requires a 2-year or associate degree in applied science or equivalent
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and solve problems
- Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to meet time-sensitive customer requests and handle changes quickly
Qualifications
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in healthcare settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology
