Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of relevant post high school education (college, university or technical school) in a science curriculum or 1-5 years of equivalent work experience in a research, commercial or hospital laboratory
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a wet laboratory environment
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, performing lab- and desk-based computer tasks, performing laboratory techniques requiring grasping/pipetting/hand dexterity, performing repetitive motions, occasionally lifting objects that weigh up to 50 pounds
- Wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator
- May work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals and may be required to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- ALAT and LAT certification preferred
- Incumbent encouraged to sit for ALAT and/or LAT within 12 months as a level 2 technician
- LAT and/or LATG within the first 24 months encouraged
Pay
Salary is commensurate with experience + $500 sign-on bonus.
