Laboratory Analyst II

About the role

The Laboratory Analyst II, Metals is responsible for preparing and analyzing a wide variety of client samples for elemental content using analytical chemistry methodology and various spectroscopic instruments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples, standard reference materials, reagents, and/or solutions.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Perform and document routine maintenance and calibration of instrumentation.
• Document and record raw data and results of analyses.
• Execute analytical procedures in accordance with the appropriate regulations.
• Perform testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
• Identify and troubleshoot problems with analytical equipment.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and provide suggested technical solutions to management.
• Perform basic data analysis as assigned.
• Assist with training.
• Follow the guidelines set forth in the company Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures.
• Comply with company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Follow the guidelines set forth in the company Quality Manual and Safety/Chemical Hygiene Plan.
• Adhere to the requirements of the company Quality System.
• Other duties as defined by supervisor, department needs, and workload.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory preferred.
• Experience in a GLP/cGMP and ISO regulated environment preferred.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of the above.

Skills

• Knowledge of analytical chemistry methodologies and experience with spectroscopic instrumentation such as Inductively Coupled Plasma - Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and/or Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good interpersonal, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to present both facts and recommendations effectively.
• Technical problem-solving and process improvement skills.
• Solid working knowledge of GLP, cGMP, and other regulations and standards related to assigned analytical testing.

Schedule

Typically, Monday through Friday, forty hours per week. However, must be flexible to meet the needs of the department and complete other projects as assigned.

Pay

Compensation range: $20–$22 an hour. The job posting is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, as actual pay is subject to variation due to factors such as location, education, experience, and skillset.
