About the role
The Wilmington, NC laboratory at SGS is seeking an experienced Lab Analyst II to join their team. SGS is a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification, known for its commitment to sustainability, quality, and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and analyzes samples with accuracy and precision in accordance with SGS' analytical SOPs.
- Works independently and collaborates with the team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met.
- Understands and applies basic analytical chemistry principles.
- Fulfills routine and moderately complex sample analyses using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
- Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Assists with the development and validation of analytical methods, SOPs, and other operating, safety, and quality documents.
- Provides technical training, advice, and support to Analysts in data analysis.
- Supports investigation and response to client inquiries and CARs.
- Supports Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and clients with testing, reporting, and technical inquiries.
- Inputs and maintains technical information to support laboratory functions and operations.
- Manages multiple projects as assigned.
- Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
- Advanced English language skills (Required)
- Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
- Basic computer skills (Required)
- Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
