A Day in the Life
As an Analyst I based in our Anaheim, CA laboratory, you’ll play a key role in bringing analytical data to life. From preparing samples to operating advanced instrumentation, your work helps ensure high-quality, reliable results that meet rigorous standards. You’ll collaborate with a strong team of committed professionals, contribute to meaningful scientific work, and grow your expertise in a dynamic, quality-driven environment.
You will be working with a group of 8-10 others in direct support of laboratory operations but often independently with various tasks. Your tasks will revolve around the daily sample load, incoming projects, and the needs of the department. This includes inspecting, prepping, and screening client samples and ensuring this information is well documented and communicated. The primary technologies you’ll be working with include GC, GC-MS, vacuum systems, flow controllers and pressurization equipment.
Compensation and Schedule
The compensation range for this role is $23 to $30, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. The schedule is Sun - Thurs, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM (2nd Shift).
Responsibilities
- Prepare standards, calibrate, load and operate GC/GC-MS under supervision
- Maintain LIMS/logbooks; follow Good Lab Practices
- Create CARs when required and support corrective actions
- Conduct primary data review
- Maintain quality and throughput
- Perform basic troubleshooting, maintenance and confirming instrument readiness
- Perform MDLs and proficiency testing under guidance; participate in SOP reviews
- Interface with QA, Sample Receiving, Project Managers and Service Center Managers
- Avoid method development
- Avoid assisting with method development
- Avoid performing other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's degree in a Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences, or a related technical field preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience performing analytical testing in an environmental laboratory required
- Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant laboratory experience will be considered
- Experience with air testing methodologies, sample preparation, instrumentation, data review, troubleshooting, and quality systems is strongly preferred
- Candidates demonstrating advanced technical technical competency, independent problem solving abilities, and a proven record of analytical production in an environmental laboratory may be considered in lieu of formal educational requirements
- Strong MS Office Skills and familiarity with LIMSStrong organization, attention to detail and teamwork
- Comfort working with compressed gases and cryogenic liquids
- Primary data review competency and routing instrument operation
- Basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance under guidance
- Preferred Skills: Previous experience with EPA, ASTM and SCAQMD methodologiesAbility to handle multiple task simultaneouslyAble to work in a fast-paced environment
