Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out laboratory tests and interpret results, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, logbooks, and input data for reports and summaries.
- Plan and schedule daily work based on supervisor guidance and project priorities.
- Identify and resolve routine laboratory issues, including supply and reagent availability.
- Maintain cleanroom conditions, laboratory equipment, and ensure safe waste disposal practices.
- Follow quality control (QC)/quality assurance (QA) protocols and participate in audits, safety programs, and preventive maintenance.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and sample preparation.
- Provide technical training to peers after demonstrating proficiency in assigned tasks.
- Handle and analyze both standard and non-standard client samples independently and under supervision.
- Support compliance activities and document processes accurately.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of laboratory protocols, cleanroom practices, and quality systems.
- Ability to follow QC/QA standards and maintain compliance with safety requirements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Strong math and basic statistical skills with foundational knowledge of general chemistry.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- High attention to detail and precision in handling hazardous chemicals and sensitive materials.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate documentation and using laboratory tools and equipment.
Education, Certifications, and Experience
- A.A. degree (in chemistry or related discipline) with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience, or
- B.S. degree (in chemistry or related discipline) or M.S. degree with no relevant experience, and at least 1-2 years relevant experience.
