Labor Relations Manager

About the role
In this role, you will lead a team and manage daily labor relations activities on construction projects, providing advice in the resolution of labor disputes, grievances, and work stoppages. Your strategic input will enable the industrial relations team to develop and implement process improvement initiatives that facilitate positive labor relations and prevent labor problems and schedule delays.
This position is designated as part-time telework and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily labor relations activities on construction projects and operating facilities; provide advice and guidance to labor relations personnel in resolving labor disputes, grievances, and work stoppages to prevent construction schedule delays.
- Represent Bechtel in external meetings with local union officials and in pre-negotiation meetings for project and national labor agreements, and internally in business development meetings with potential clients.
- Supervise the preparation of information and data for these meetings, including local area surveys on manual workforce availability, productivity and compensation, available local housing, labor trends and practices, and proposed project plans or agreements.
- Supervise the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives with union officials and construction management; review policies and practices and recommend changes.
- Monitor existing LR/IR/WFS programs, research, and data collection to ensure desired objectives and results are achieved.
- Lead complex craft employee relations investigations and resolve employee disputes.
- Supervise LR/IR/WFS teams and change management in LR/IR/WFS on projects and within Bechtel.
- Manage LR/IR/WFS activities to conform to company and site policies/procedures and legal requirements.
- Oversee the recruiting, screening, and in-processing of craft employees.
- Provide advice and counsel to management on LR/IR/WFS policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
- Significant experience in unionized construction.
- Good working knowledge of North America’s Building Trades.
- Good working knowledge of WFD initiatives.
- Good working knowledge of Building Trades Apprenticeship programs and training.

Pay
Hourly range: $67.69–$97.93 (final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant).
