Labor Relations Analyst
Project Overview
Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.
Job Summary
In this role, you will monitor work practices daily on a field project and advise superiors of observed or anticipated labor problems. You will support staffing plans, wage trend studies, and the development and presentation of craft training and orientation programs. Your work will contribute to positive workplace relationships by facilitating communication and ensuring compliance with labor laws.
Major Responsibilities
- Performs research and develops statistical information and studies on issues such as productivity, labor union or construction industry trends and practices
- Prepares staffing forecasts
- Maintains associated reference lists and files
- Ensures that LR/IR/WFS activities conform to company and site policies/procedures follows labor contract negotiation proceedings and disseminates information on progress (LR)
- Monitors work practices daily on a field project and advises superior of observed and/or anticipated labor problems
- Recommends actions to resolve these issues to avoid work stoppages and construction schedule delays
- Works with local & regional building trades representatives on process improvement initiatives (LR) and implements them at the jobsite level
- Interfaces with craft workforce, construction leadership, client, and the general public
- Produces various written project and LR/IR/WFS communications
- Supports investigations regarding employee misconduct according to the work rules
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Project management and organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
- Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access and Visio
- Knowledge of Etrack, SAP, and/or PowerBI preferred
- Broad Labor Relations knowledge in areas of Project Controls or personnel management (e.g., Hires, terms, reclassifications, etc.), Craft Human Resource Information System (CHRIS), Craft Applicant and Requisition System (CARS), and timekeeping systems
- Advanced understanding of Bechtel Construction Company (BCC) policies
- Understanding of relational databases such as Oracle, System Analysis and Program (SAP), and Microsoft Access
- Knowledge of regulations related to areas of Human Resources functions such as hiring, terminating, benefit plan design/administration
- Ability to take limited direction and information and create high quality work product to be reviewed by senior management
