Description

This is specialized technical work in investigating and enforcing County ordinances.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting field investigation and enforcing Lee County ordinances, including but not limited to: land use, zoning, lot mowing, signs, nuisance accumulations and construction contractor licensing.
  • Will have considerable public contact while investigating and enforcing these ordinances and policies.
  • Work is reviewed under the direction of the Chief Code Enforcement Officer or his/her designee, through conferences, reports and observations.

Education, Experience, Licensing

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of experience in code enforcement, law enforcement, construction licensing, zoning, building construction or related experience.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Class E driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be able to work outside in varied weather conditions and climb, crawl, bend, and stoop as necessary to inspect sites.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Supplemental Information

Must exercise considerable independent judgment in the performance of day to day duties.

Work Hours and Days: Monday - Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES

All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed. This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
