Position Summary
The Labor & Employment Paralegal position is a full-time role that will provide organizational and practice specific assistance to attorneys in the Department in preparing cases from onset through post-trial, including related research and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists attorneys in all stages of the case from onset through post-trial
- Oversees organization, maintenance and appropriate utilization of documents and other case-related materials
- Assists with the discovery process, including preparing for deposition, propounding and responding to written discovery and preparing for expert discovery
- Oversees and conducts document reviews; prepares documentation regarding criteria changes; tracks and reports on review progress and results
- Drafts subpoenas for documents and/or appearances
- Arranges for services of process
- Prepares FOIA requests to governmental agencies
- Aids in law and motion practice, including assembling motion papers and exhibits, coordinating filings of pleadings and briefs and ensuring proper service
- Aids in trial preparation, including identifying and organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, maintaining trial calendars and communicating effectively with opposing counsel and courtroom staff
- Maintains timely and accurate timekeeping records
Qualifications

- Education & Prior Experience: Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered; 3-5 years of experience working as a paralegal with preference given to large law firm experience; knowledge of legal terminology, forms and documents (including pleadings & discovery, etc.); familiarity with the various governmental agencies involved in L&E matters (e.g. EEOC, NLRB, DOL) a plus; familiarity with Relativity and ESI projects; technology proficiency with Windows-based software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly; experience with AI software including Co-Pilot, CoCounsel and ChatGPT and a willingness to incorporate them responsibly into day-to-day workflows to enhance daily work tasks as appropriate and/or directed; demonstrates a basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI), including core capabilities, limitations, and importance of data privacy, accuracy, verification, and ethical considerations within a professional services environment; proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging AI and related technologies and contributes to a culture of innovation
