About the role

The Labor Crew Chief II will primarily assist the Field Operations Supervisor and Operations Supervisor with the day-to-day operational services.

Schedule: 1st Shift
Area: Residential Collections

Responsibilities

• Serves in an operational team lead capacity under the guidance of the Field Operations Supervisor
• Assists in the supervision of crews whose primary function is the daily collection of solid waste for areas including special services, garbage, yard waste, bulky, and the CATS Goldline
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and customer service skills
• Handles extensive public contact
• Exercises independent judgment and makes sound operational decisions to ensure that established performance standards and safety practices are met
• Displays considerable knowledge of methods and practices in the Solid Waste Industry and assists in the coordination of crew activities within established guidelines
• Assists in preparation and maintenance of operational and administrative reports

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent and five years relevant work experience
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Class 'A' or 'B' CDL)
• Ability to obtain a City Driver’s Permit
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Emerald & Kronos
• Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, or other unusual hours in support of special events or emergency response
• Must be able to perform outdoor duties during all weather conditions

• Driving (75%)
• Walking (Up to 5 miles and/or for extended periods of time)
• Climbing (12 feet)
• Lifting (100 lbs.)
• Ability to operate small hand tools
• Ability to perform light manual labor in the course of supporting field operations, demonstrating work requirements, providing training, or other duties as required
• Operate cars, light trucks, or vans on a regular basis
• Occasionally operate a variety of other light to heavy-duty equipment in the course of demonstrating or assessing equipment use or capabilities
• Work involves frequent outside exposure under all weather conditions; may also include exposure to machinery, moving vehicles, loud noise, large crowds, and slippery or uneven surfaces

• Supervisory Experience
• Previous manual labor experience
