Labor and Employment Attorney

About the Role

A highly regarded and growing employment law practice is seeking a skilled mid-to-senior-level associate with four to seven years of California employment law experience. The practice represents employers ranging from emerging businesses to large, sophisticated organizations facing complex workplace issues. The team advises clients on a broad spectrum of employment matters, providing both strategic litigation defense and proactive counseling. Attorneys work closely with clients to develop practical solutions that balance legal risk, business objectives, costs, and reputational considerations.

Responsibilities

• Handle a wide range of employment litigation matters, including disability accommodation, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes (including class and representative actions), and restrictive covenant issues.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, manage complex cases with minimal oversight, and develop strong client relationships.
• Represent employers in federal and state courts, arbitration proceedings, administrative agency matters, and appellate proceedings.
• Provide preventive employment counseling and advise clients on risk management strategies before disputes arise.
• Act as a proactive and trusted advisor, leveraging strong litigation skills, leadership abilities, and practical problem-solving techniques to help clients navigate challenging employment matters.

Requirements

• Four to seven years of California employment law experience.
• Significant experience handling employment litigation matters.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior attorneys.
• Experience representing employers in federal and state courts, arbitration, administrative agency matters, and appellate proceedings.
• Strong judgment, initiative, business acumen, and ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
