Label Installer (Test & Trials)

Installation of metal photo labels for component identification in line with ship specification system diagrams (e.g., fuel oil, lube oil, JP-5, hydraulic oil, seawater, chill water, refrigerant, fire main).

Responsibilities

• Color-code painting of system valve handles as per ship specification drawings.
• Apply pipe wrap system identification using designated color-coded decals.
• Stencil paint identification of materials in accordance with ship specification drawings.
• Install metal photo label plates on vessel machinery, vents, doors, hatches, fire stations, electrical and power equipment, and other related areas.
• Manufacture and package labels according to requirements and instructions.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned, including housekeeping and attending safety or process improvement meetings.

Requirements

• Familiarity with reading ship specification system drawings and system identification.
• Knowledge of shipboard systems including mechanical, electrical, pipe, damage control, aviation, ordinance, ventilation, steam, fuel oil, and lube oil.
• Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, hear warning signals, and read safety instructions.
• Capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and on any shift.
• Ability to work well with others and follow safety standards.

Skills

• Experience with stencil machines, metal punches, metal shears, taps, and various hand and power tools.
• Manual and finger dexterity.
• Physical ability to perform tasks involving repetitive or prolonged bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, standing, walking, balancing, pushing, and pulling.
• Ability to work in physically awkward and demanding positions, including climbing ladders, reaching above the shoulder, and crawling through small openings.

Physical/Mental Involvement

Works in all areas of the shipyard and onboard ships, often in physically demanding and awkward positions. Must maintain general safety awareness by hearing warning signals, reading safety instructions, and avoiding hazards.

Environmental Factors

• Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, and various climates and temperatures.
• Low ventilation conditions and exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts.
• High levels of constant noise.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $33.10 - $34.43.
