Lab/Test Technician
Trace Systems is seeking a Lab/Test Technician to support EACN network engineering and maintain the Systems Integration Laboratory at Scott AFB. The technician will execute repeatable tests for configuration changes, performance, vulnerability remediation, and active engineering projects before operational fielding. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
Responsibilities
- Administer and document tests for network and system configuration changes.
- Execute network performance, vulnerability, security-patching, regression, and project-specific test procedures.
- Maintain SIL configuration, infrastructure, test equipment, cabling, software, and technical documentation.
- Assist engineers with test setup, data collection, troubleshooting, defect isolation, and retesting.
- Verify test-environment requirements are captured, documented, and ready before scheduled events.
- Support installation and functional testing of software versions, patches, TCTOs, TCNOs, and other directives.
- Record test results, maintain evidence and configuration status, and communicate findings to engineering and cybersecurity personnel.
Requirements
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and contract requirements.
- Meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role: 671 System Testing and Evaluation Specialist, Proficiency Level: Basic; may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
- Qualifying credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering, or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
- Qualifying certifications may include CND, Network+, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
- 2+ years of IT, network, laboratory, test, or technical support experience.
- Current CompTIA Network+ certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
- Working knowledge of network testing, troubleshooting, configuration control, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
- Experience in a DoD systems integration laboratory, test and evaluation environment, or network engineering lab.
- Experience with Cisco networks, ACAS, DISA STIGs, EVE-NG, automation, or A2G2/EACN systems.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
- Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree in information technology, electronics, or a related field preferred.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.
