3/4 × 12 (Sunday–Tuesday/Wednesday) Day Lab Technologist role.
About the role
Performs a wide variety of laboratory tasks and production processes, including operating and troubleshooting HPLCs, DNA Synthesizers, LC/MS, liquid handling robots, and UV/Vis Spectrometry. Works on routine assignments where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
Responsibilities
- Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioMerieux’s Diagnostics’ Quality System.
- Maintain records in compliance with regulatory requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Manufacture oligonucleotides according to electronic batch records and WID’s.
- Use and maintain laboratory instrumentation including UV/Vis spectrophotometer, HPLC, liquid handling robots, and DNA synthesizers.
- Handle hazardous chemicals in accordance with approved written procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1+ year of laboratory experience.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Two years of laboratory experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology.
Skills
- Detail orientation to complete tasks without errors and produce high-quality work.
- Organizing work and resources efficiently to ensure smooth operations.
- Ability to cooperate with others at all levels, including leadership.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in MS Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel) at a basic level.
- Proficient in math, specifically unit conversions.
- Good oral/written communication and pipetting/liquid handling of multiple volumes.
- Maintain attention to detail for extended periods.
- Execute repetitive tasks and maintain high level of consistency over time.
- Emotional intelligence to recognize, understand, and manage one’s own emotions and those of others.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
- Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.
- Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
- Standing and/or sitting 2+ hours at a time.
- Able to perform duties while wearing a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
Pay
Estimated wage range for this role based in Utah is $21.00 – $30.00 per hour. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMérieux’s bonus program.
