Laboratory Technician I, Oligo, M-F 2:30PM-11:00PM EST

About the role

The Laboratory Technician I, Oligo position is an entry-level role within the Oligo Synthesis Team at GENEWIZ, a global leader in multiomics and synthetic solution services.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort incoming orders using established workflows
• Independently operate laboratory equipment including but not limited to pipettes, automated liquid handlers, spectrophotometers, mass spectrometers, and centrifuges
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately and precisely
• Follow safety procedures
• Handle chemical reagents and glassware
• Restock lab supplies
• Prepare and package orders
• Maintain the cleanliness of work area
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• HS Diploma required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, etc.) preferred
• At least 6 months of work experience preferred
• Desire to learn new processes and support a growing team
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Accurate record-keeping ability
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Previous experience using pipettes, liquid handling systems, UV spectrophotometer, and/or Mass Spectrometer preferred
• Certified in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.)
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
• Ability to read small fonts on sample tubes and documents
• Will be working in an area with hazardous chemicals
• May have to use hand tools to adjust settings on instruments as needed

Pay

United States Base Compensation: $16.50 - $20.50
