NOVA Engineering is seeking a Construction Materials/Soils Laboratory Technician for our Columbia, SC location. This person will perform daily work in the lab, assist project managers, help with scheduling, and perform other duties as needed. This candidate will be providing quality assurance/quality control testing for a variety transportation projects, but any commercial experience is very beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform on site observations/inspections and collect samples per NCDOT, ACI, and ASTM requirements
• Perform specific QA/QC tests on construction materials and transportation components
• Maintain detailed records of observations, inspections, and test results
• Conduct and document tests on various construction materials with precision and attention to detail
• Collaborate with experienced colleagues while also working independently, ensuring test results are logical, complete, and ready for review
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is well-maintained and properly calibrated to keep the lab running efficiently and ensure the accuracy of testing processes

Qualifications

• 2+ years' construction materials testing experience in a laboratory setting
• ACI Concrete Strength Testing, ACI Aggregate Testing Level I and II, SCDOT certifications are desired
• Ability to lift and/or move 35-100 pounds regularly
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
