Responsibilities

• Procure blood samples via venous and capillary techniques from patients ranging in age from infant to geriatric.
• Utilize the Laboratory Information System for activating, ordering, and resulting laboratory orders from providers and to result laboratory tests.
• Educate patients in the proper collection of specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum.
• Review orders from providers, maintain accuracy in ordering tests, and occasionally call providers' offices to obtain orders.
• Process specimens appropriately, including looking up specimen requirements, centrifuging, separating, and storing at the correct temperature to maintain sample integrity.
• Prepare specimens for transfer to reference laboratories, complete required paperwork, and ensure STAT specimens are processed and transported timely, including calling a STAT courier.
• Perform both waived and moderately complex CLIA testing in hematology, urinalysis, and serology areas under the guidance and supervision of an MLT or MT.
• Maintain accurate records, including temperature monitoring, quality control for all laboratory testing, and daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year of experience required.
• Medical Assistant or Certified Phlebotomist preferred.
• High school diploma plus additional course work up to 1 year.

Pay

$17.04 - $24.70 per hour. Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.

Schedule

Day Shift, 8am-5pm.
