Responsibilities
- Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Perform all quality control testing on raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products according to established procedures.
- Perform first-level operational duties and support laboratory activities as needed.
- Review analytical results outside normal parameters and communicate deviations to Operations and the Lead Lab Technician, as necessary.
- Review analytical results and grade finished product lots when testing is complete.
- Ensure testing and reporting of results are completed accurately and with minimal delays during the shift.
- Calibrate, maintain, and perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Complete equipment calibrations during the shift, as needed.
- Aid with training laboratory personnel during the shift, as needed.
- Follow established work procedures, SOPs, and safety requirements.
- Work with the Lead Lab Technician and Operations to communicate delays, resolve sample and labeling discrepancies, and address out-of-specification results.
- Verify laboratory equipment used by personnel and ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Identify abnormal variations in test results and verify the accuracy of results.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- Education: Science-based degree required; Biology or Chemistry preferred.
- Experience: 0–3 years of relevant laboratory, quality control, or scientific experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Some knowledge of GC, HPLC, and/or CE; strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with others and demonstrate good leadership qualities; ability to learn and understand emulsion and ATBS chemistry within a reasonable timeframe; strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and adapt to change; basic computer proficiency; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and climb stairs; ability to safely evacuate in the event of a plant emergency; ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with overtime as needed.
