Lab Technician I

Maintain Laboratory Operations

Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies to prevent work delays.

Accurately process samples in a time efficient manner.

Follow procedures as outlined in laboratory work instructions.

Perform assigned routine laboratory tests under direct supervision.

Prepare media and solutions used within the laboratory.

Enter samples and results into the laboratory data management system.

Physical Demands

• Walk/stand for extended periods of time.
• Move safely over/traverse uneven terrain.
• Frequently carry/lift objects and equipment weighing up to 20lbs.
• Perform repetitive tasks that require hand/wrist dexterity.
• Safely pick up materials stored at ground level.
• Safely apply 50 lbs. of force to push carts.
• Frequently kneel/squat.
• Safely squat at floor level or on knees.
• Conduct repetitive tasks.
• Wear work-required PPE for identified tasks, such as safety glasses, work gloves, work shoes, etc.
• Exposed at times to airborne particles, such as dust and dander.
• Exposure to chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants, and vaccines.
• Work inside year round.
• Some situations may require work outside.
• Exposure to very hot and cold temperatures.
• Exposure to farm related smells and foul odors.
• Exposure to blood and other bodily fluids.
• Repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, and contact with live animals.

Other Conditions

• Comfortable handling farm samples while maintaining sample integrity.
• Ability to remain cognizant of surroundings, task at hand, aberrant results, potential contamination, and general data collecting practices.
• Cannot own or house any wild or domesticated avian species.
• Strict 72-hour quarantine period after contact with non Hubbard avian species.
