Lab Technician - Construction Services Line
About the role
The Materials Testing Lab Technician I is responsible for performing a variety of Construction Materials laboratory testing under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures. This position is part of Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI), a leading US-based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction.
Responsibilities
- Perform Construction materials laboratory testing on concrete, soils, aggregates and asphalt
- Populate laboratory test data on standard company forms
- Maintain detailed tracking and logging procedures for samples delivered to the Pittsburgh, PA laboratory
- Occasionally assist on project sites out of the office in sampling materials, retrieving materials, or testing materials
- Work under the direct supervision of a CMT Department Manager
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
- Able to work off shift and overtime as needed
- Able to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
- Able to kneel and squat occasionally
- Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of laboratory experience preferred, however willing to train
- ACI Certification preferred but not required
