Lab Technician
Job Summary
Cut steel plate samples using Oxy-fuel, plasma torch and CNC robot plasma cutter
Prepare and identify samples accurately and clearly and forwards to lab for testing
Requires ability to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise
Physical requirements are medium heavy
Reports to Mechanical Testing Supervisor
Job Requirements
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
- Knowledge of ASTM, API, MIL, ABS, EN, DIN, ASME, NACE and Lloyds Register testing requirements preferred
- Good math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification
- Ability to read and follow detailed procedures and roll pages (work documents)
- Ability to write legibly and accurately without transposing figures
- Ability to work independently
- Willing and able to work overtime to cover for vacations, etc.
- Willing to be cross-trained for other positions in department
- Desire and ability to be proactive in meeting needs of customer/departments
- Ability to work with computers (data input)
- Repeatably lift 50 pounds
- Pass Ergonomics Test
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Preferred Oxy-fuel cutting experience
- Plasma cutting experience
- CNC programming experience
