Responsibilities
- Complete and record a variety of Laboratory based analytical tests.
- Perform process tests, finished product testing, and specialized sample testing for applications such as water quality and contaminant identification.
- Ensure testing procedures are repeatable and reproducible, and correctly record and share results.
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations during regular walk-arounds and instrument monitoring.
- Support safety committees and attend safety meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, including cleaning work surfaces, washing, sterilizing, and distributing clean glassware.
- Report safety and environmental issues promptly.
- Monitor and calibrate laboratory instrumentation, run SQC samples, and adjust instruments as necessary.
- Conduct required sample analyses, record results accurately, and investigate discrepancies.
- Communicate results to operations personnel and address quality issues.
- Ensure products meet shipping specifications and communicate results promptly.
- Perform visual and olfactory inspections and complete quality records.
- Participate in safety walks and assist in investigations or audits.
- Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements.
- Prepare shift handover reports and communicate area status to supervisors.
- Avoid non-compliance with the integrated management system (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality, and responsible care).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related science discipline.
- 7 years of specific laboratory technician experience in a petrochemical, refinery, or medical field setting.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to wear corrective lenses.
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office software and email programs.
- Effective oral, written, and computer communication skills.
- Ability to hear radio communications and all audible alarms.
Qualifications
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Ability to climb stairs.

- Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and complex lab machinery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
