Job Responsibilities
- Repairs and tests electrical instruments, relays, instrument transformers, measuring devices and test equipment, including preparing instrument scales or dials.
- Repairs, tests and adjusts all types of single phase and polyphase electromechanical and electronic watt-hour meters and standards.
- Programs and initializes electronic meters and registers using PC and hand held programmers.
- Makes routine types of tests involving the use of electric and electronic testing devices including cathode ray oscilloscopes, high voltage and high current sources and surge generator.
- Assembles and wires test equipment and test circuits from working sketches.
- Maintains inventory of measurement and test equipment including locations, test periods and histories.
- Prepares and maintains certifications and records associated with testing and repair operations.
- May use computer terminal or PC for collecting data associated with assigned work as required.
- Performs work in a safe manner and maintains work area in a clean, orderly condition.
- Prepares test data in a form so that test reports can be written.
- May work with engineers in carrying out tests.
- Maintains stock of parts necessary for above work and requests purchase of required items.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Education equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by one year of technical training in the area of electricity, electronics and mechanics.
- Three years’ experience in maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment including one year as a shop mechanic.
- Must have a working knowledge of DC and AC electricity and electronics as applied to electrical measuring equipment, relays and mechanical devices.
- Must demonstrate an ability to work with small tools on delicate instruments.
- Must pass the company administered standardized aptitude test (CAST).
- Must hold a valid driver's license.
