About the role
The Laboratory Technician performs chemical, physical, and electrical tests on insulating fluids. This role involves laboratory manual labor and a variety of tasks, working under general supervision with a degree of independence, creativity, and latitude.
Responsibilities
- Perform various analytical testing techniques within the laboratory.
- Run standards and QC samples, recording relevant information and updating sample ID logs.
- Perform statistics and data checks to ensure analytical test equipment and procedures are accurate.
- Produce quality control charts in Excel.
- Learn and use LIMS (Doble Laboratory Information Management System) for all aspects of testing.
- Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of analytical equipment (e.g., GC).
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and surrounding areas.
- Change out gases, prepare test solutions, and clean glassware as required.
- Replace desiccants and consumable supplies used in analytical testing.
- Prepare QA/QC samples and assist with analytical testing calibration procedures.
- Perform wet chemistry tests and cross-train in other routine testing procedures.
- Participate in the development of new tests and testing procedures.
Requirements
- Minimum Associate’s Degree in chemistry, physics, or biological sciences; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Good grasp of analytical chemistry (hands-on experience and knowledge).
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to proactively communicate status and issues.
- Basic analytical equipment skills.
- Hands-on contributor who can flourish in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and solid math skills.
- Ability to work with hazardous chemicals, stand for extended periods, perform repetitive hand work (e.g., sample preparation), and lift 10 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on training in college labs or working knowledge of chromatography.
- Certifications in analytical equipment training.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, sitting, computer use, reading, writing, typing, and use of office equipment (e.g., copy machines, telephones).
- Capable of lifting 30 pounds; must use assistance for 50+ pounds.

Pay
Hourly pay range: Minimum $22.45 – Midpoint $28.07. Actual base salary offered will be determined based on work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, and relevant education or training experience.
