Lab Technician

Job Description Summary The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system. This individual will coordinate the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements; monitor and advise on how the system is performing; as well as distribute reports regarding performance. They will liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance. Job Description Applicants are not allowed to own any kind of birds due to the risk of possible disease transmission. The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills, and attributes: High School diploma or equivalentMust be a Self-Motivator with ability to perform tasks with accuracy and efficiencyGood communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal skillsTeam orientedValid driver’s licenseBe proficient with computer, including Microsoft Excel and WordLeadership experience a plus The following duties will vary according to the needs of the department. Normal duties will include: BacteriologySet up cultures.Identify bacteria and report results.Prepare Equipment and SuppliesWash and disinfect equipment to be used on the farms.Wash glassware.Autoclave materials and supplies.Quality ControlEvaluate and communicate problems in test procedures to the supervisor.Miscellaneous DutiesLearn new procedures as they become part of the routine tests performed in the lab.Comply with ISO StandardsWeekend schedule Availability on weekends is a must as Bacteriology Department operates seven days a week.
