Lab Technician
About the role
Responsible for processing and analyzing solid deposit samples in a laboratory environment. This role supports laboratory operations by preparing samples, operating analytical instruments, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate sample tracking and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare solid samples through drying, grinding, pressing, and other standard laboratory techniques.
- Perform sample preparation using organic solvents and strong acids in accordance with laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments, including Gas Chromatographs (GC), Accelerated Solvent Extractors (ASE), and CHNS elemental analyzers.
- Receive, log, and track samples to ensure proper documentation and chain of custody.
- Maintain laboratory equipment in operational condition and coordinate repairs or service as needed.
- Order laboratory supplies and consumables to support daily operations.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures and standard operating protocols.
- Record, organize, and report experimental data accurately.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
- 0-2 years of laboratory experience, including academic, internship, or industry experience.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation such as GC, ASE, or elemental analyzers.
- Experience with laboratory sample preparation and chemical handling.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
