About the role
The Lab Quality Control Technician is responsible for obtaining samples of materials from the Mixing Department and testing those samples for quality parameters.
Responsibilities
- Operate lab equipment to test quality parameters including thickness, color, gravity, and cure.
- Calibrate lab equipment before the beginning of each shift.
- Manually record data accurately to ensure correct reports.
- Maintain rubber within specified ranges and retest rubber reclaimed by Quality Control.
- Test, investigate, and find solutions to correct problems in physical properties, cure rate, gravity, color, and thickness.
- Maintain various lab processes:
- Color master processes
- Cataloging
- Storing
- Cross-referencing
- Color matching samples
- Quality checks
- Maintain a safe and clean work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately record information for use by coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Detailed oriented with strong basic math skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Experience with computer applications.
- Ability to work without supervision and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to process work accurately and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using computers, including keyboard, touchpad, monitor, and mouse.
- Ability to use office equipment such as printers, copiers, calculators, and telephones.
- Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods, often in an office environment.
- Physical activities include sitting, maneuvering around the plant floor, talking, hearing, handling, reaching, and feeling.
- Ability to stoop to pick up items off the floor and reach above your head to obtain or place work-related materials.
- Ability to periodically lift and move documents, files, and other materials to maintain workflow.
- Ability to move about the office, plant, and grounds to deliver and receive work-related materials.
- Must dress professionally and appropriately.
- Ability to work safely and identify color differences.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Adequate math skills.
- Ability to pass company entrance test.
