Lab Technical Assistant (Per Diem, Varied)

Position Summary

The Laboratory Technical Assistant pre-processes specimens by receiving, labeling and loading the specimen(s) onto analyzers. They routinely perform routine and specialized assignments and demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the procedures in the areas of a clinical laboratory under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

Minimum Education / Training / Experience

• A minimum of two years of college course work working towards a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Nursing, Clinical Laboratory Scientist or other related science degree.
• Desired: Certified Phlebotomy Certification

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.
• Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be aware of chemical hygiene protocols, and handling requirements of biohazard materials.
• Must know and follow all universal precautions.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
• Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
