Laboratory Assistant (Per Diem)

About the role

Under the direction of the Supervisor, the lab assistant supports various functions including preanalytical processing, specimen preparation, sending to reference laboratories, accessioning/registration, and performing waived and moderate complexity testing.

Responsibilities

• Supports preanalytical processing and specimen preparation
• Sends prepared specimens to appropriate reference laboratories
• Accessions and registers specimens
• Performs waived and moderate complexity testing
• Manages inventory and controls
• Stores and retrieves specimens
• Maintains laboratory equipment and performs necessary maintenance

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• One (1) year as a Medical or Lab Assistant or demonstrated experience in laboratory
• Complies with OSHA and regulatory requirements
• Flexible to adapt to laboratory needs
• Operates a pneumatic tube system
