About the role

Our Manufacturing Operations teams work in the manufacturing plants with a "Safety First, Quality Always" mindset, striving for continuous improvement. The Animal Health site in Millsboro, DE, is a Biotechnology Center of Excellence that manufactures, fills, packages, and distributes vaccines for animals. The site handles mammalian, insect, and avian cell culture production, live bird vaccine production, embryonated egg vaccine production, roller bottle vaccine production, bioreactor vaccine production, and downstream processing (e.g., water in oil emulsions, aseptic filling, lyophilization).

Responsibilities

• Clean work areas, including floors, walls, and tables.
• Prepare, clean, and sterilize glassware and equipment for use.
• Assist with equipment setup and operation.
• Perform aseptic procedures, including product formulation, fill equipment setup and operations, and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain concurrent record keeping, including charts, log books, and all pertinent documentation.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and comply with all safety and company policies.
• Handle formulation, filling, labeling, capping, packaging, and visual inspection of vaccines.
• Assist in training new team members.
• Report unusual or non-routine occurrences when performing tasks.
• Manage hazardous wastes (if properly trained).
• Assist with non-aseptic procedures, including handling poultry for tissue harvesting or waste.
• Assist in reviewing and developing Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P's).
• Review production records and enter technical data into required systems.
• Attend training classes, workshops, and meetings to improve job skills and product-related procedures.
• Assist in monitoring and requisitioning laboratory supplies.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED with industry-related lab experience or Bachelor's degree with industry or academic lab experience.
• 1+ years of lab experience.
• Ability to apply knowledge and skills to complete assigned work within your area.
• Recognizes problems and uses existing procedures to assess solutions.
• Works on tasks to meet time frames set by others.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend information and effectively convey it to colleagues at various levels.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and conversions.
• Ability to work standing for long periods of time.
• Must be flexible to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed by the manufacturing process. Shift hours rotate throughout the month and may include:
  • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • 4th Shift: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  On average, the worker will rotate between 2 different adjacent shifts each week.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aseptic clean room behaviors experience.
• Laboratory experience.
• Biology or chemistry education background.
• Mechanical aptitude.

Pay

$22.33/hour on W2.

Schedule

6-month contract. Shift hours rotate throughout the month as needed, with an average of 2 different adjacent shifts per week.
