About the role

Provides failure analysis laboratory processes for a variety of mechanical and materials components in West Boylston, MA.

Responsibilities

• Document samples submitted to the laboratory and during laboratory testing, including photography, hand sketches, and recording data in tables, worksheets, and/or spreadsheets.
• Perform laboratory preparation processes for failure analysis of mechanical or materials, including metallographic preparation, documentation, interpretations, and testing (e.g., hardness, microhardness, optical emissions spectrometry, electrical testing, pressure testing).
• Conduct in-house and field operations with multiple sample types.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as cutting/sectioning saws, cut-off wheels, grit blasting tools, and hand/power tools.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Post-high school education with courses relating to failure analysis, metallography, mechanical testing, and analysis procedures and equipment.
• Familiarity with metallographic laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.

Pay

$17.79–$28.37/hr, depending on experience and applicable certifications.
