Responsibilities

  • Affirms workload, prioritizes work, makes staffing adjustments and assists staff when needed.
  • Coordinates/reviews schedules with supervisors and coordinators to ensure adequate staffing for shift.
  • Focuses on quality by assembling and reviewing statistical data and assuring performance of all quality control procedures.
  • Ensures quality control and instrumentation maintenance records meet standards of accrediting and licensing agencies.
  • Assists the department Lab Director and Lab Supervisors, as appropriate, in the implementation of new QC/QA policies and continuous quality improvement programs in accordance with the Quality Management Program.
  • Provides support during inspections.
  • Coordinates the operation of the anatomic pathology information system within the laboratory.
  • Ability to perform, maintain quality, and troubleshoot testing in a broad range of histochemical, immunohistochemical, immunofluorescent, and/or cytochemical procedures.
  • Mentors and/or trains new and established staff members and students in routine and specialized techniques used in the laboratory.
  • Participates in competency assessment of staff and proctors competency or proficiency testing.
