About the role

The Lab Tech Assistant performs laboratory duties including preparing specimens for analysis, registering and accessioning orders, verifying specimen acceptability, and executing pre-analytical and analytical procedures. This role also involves phlebotomy, specimen collection, maintaining inventory, stocking supplies, waived testing, and slide preparation.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community respectfully.
• Collect blood specimens from patients following established venipuncture procedures and transport specimens to the testing laboratory while ensuring specimen integrity.
• Support technologists by assisting with instrument loading and maintenance, reagent preparation, thawing, pooling, importing, and issuing blood products.
• Recognize and report instrument or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Perform clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly.
• Travel to off-site locations as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Associate’s degree in Biology or Chemistry (preferred).
• Laboratory experience preferred but not required.
• Keyboarding or data entry experience preferred but not required.
