Lab Support Technician-FT, Nights Only
About the role
Find your calling at Mercy! The Lab Support Technician I Nights only is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST Nights Only will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. Position located at Mercy Hospital Southeast, 1701 Lacey Street, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
Responsibilities
- Skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing using safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
- Processing, transport, and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
- Being observed by laboratory management or designee and completing all departmental checklists for the LST Nights Only position.
- Performing duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: College level Chemistry, Biology or other Science courses.
- Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills aligned with Mercy Signature Service.
- Skillful and safe specimen acquisition, processing, transport, and referral.
- Knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality and laboratory policies.
- Ability to follow departmental checklists and meet competency requirements.
