Lab Supervisor - Sign-on Bonus + Relocation Assistance

About the role

The Lab Supervisor coordinates and oversees laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This role manages staffing, scheduling, training, quality control, supply management, and collaboration with laboratory administration, nursing, and physicians. The Supervisor monitors financial performance, ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, and supports continuous process improvements. Additionally, this position provides technical expertise and performs laboratory testing as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily laboratory operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflow management, and supply inventory in collaboration with the manager.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality test results in compliance with CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards.
• Manage quality control (QC) and proficiency testing, troubleshoot outliers, document corrective actions, and ensure compliance with accreditation guidelines.
• Lead and develop laboratory staff through competency assessments, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality, preventive maintenance, and escalation of issues.
• Support financial management by monitoring supply usage, reducing waste, and selecting cost-effective reagents and materials.
• Facilitate clear communication through regular staff meetings and collaboration with clinical teams.
• Ensure a safe and compliant work environment by promoting infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory policies.
• Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, patient care, and operational outcomes.
• Perform laboratory testing and other duties as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and oversee departmental staff, including scheduling and resource management.
• Consult with Manager or Director on staffing issues and contribute to performance evaluations and goal setting.
• Assist in managing the departmental budget to ensure cost-effective operations while maintaining high-quality service.
• Monitor expenditures and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
• Follow established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency, and safety.
• Collaborate with leadership teams to improve service delivery and stay updated on industry advancements and regulatory changes.
• Work in a staff role as required, fulfilling duties and meeting established competencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physical Science, or related science field.
• 1-2 years of related experience in the profession.
• 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred.
• Certified Medical Lab Scientist-ASCP or equivalent certification.
• Must meet applicable CLIA personnel qualification requirements for high-complexity testing.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
