About the role
Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Core Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN. In this position, you will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment as part of our mission to improve health and lives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Core Laboratory department
- Perform bench work and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
- Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel
- Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
- Ensure all shifts in the department are properly staffed
- Research and resolve production errors, escalating when necessary
- Engage in continuous process and service-level improvements
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained through Quality Control
- Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
- Evaluate new process improvements and make recommendations
- Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
- Ensure all work complies with state and Federal regulations
- Administer and manage policies and procedures
- Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
- Perform administrative duties as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 5 or more years of experience as a Medical Lab Technologist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
- TN Laboratory Supervisor License or ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire
- In lieu of the above education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may be accepted
- Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations
- Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to make decisions in a changing environment
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience supervising or leading a team
- 3 or more years of experience as an MLS or MLT generalist
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM or 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM. Weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts may vary. Start and end times may also vary.
Pay
$15,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants.
