Lab Manager/Research Technician

About the role

The Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Research Laboratory at Binghamton University seeks a Lab Manager (Research Technician) to support cutting-edge research on the interaction between perception and cognition, particularly focusing on the cognitive and brain mechanisms underlying speech and language processing.

Responsibilities

• Manage laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and data management
• Conduct experiments using EEG and fMRI, and analyze behavioral data
• Collaborate with researchers to design and implement new experimental paradigms
• Support the development and execution of computational models to interpret neural and behavioral data
• Prepare and present research findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

• A Master's degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, or a related field
• Experience with EEG and fMRI data acquisition and analysis
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

• Knowledge of statistical methods and programming languages such as R or Python
• Experience with neuroimaging software such as SPM, AFNI, or FSL
• Interest in cognitive neuroscience and speech/language processing

Skills

• Proficiency in laboratory equipment operation and maintenance
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
• Good time management and organizational skills
