Lab/Field Student Assistant-12-Nankar

Duties/Responsibilities

• Tend to plants in greenhouse.
• Plant, weed, fertilize, water, pollination, harvest, disease screening, and data collection.
• Collect plant samples, label, flag, stake, data collection, pollinations, making breeding crosses, disease screening.
• Lab Protocols-Nucleic acid extraction, and other vegetable breeding related research.
• Lab maintenance and chores – wash glassware, autoclave supplies, prepare basic solutions and media, take away trash, etc.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate students with majors in plant biology, agriculture, crop and soil science; prior lab experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Basic knowledge about molecular biology and plan breeding would be desirable.

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 50 lbs. and withstand outside elements for extended periods of time.
• Driving.
